![]() see Another Hothouse on how to build a hothouse for under $200.00. |
Photo above is one of the tomato plants growing in the mini
hot house. Photo to the right NOW look at them they are around 30 days old. 70 to 90 days before they produce fruit. The hot house is fabricated from star pickets 900mm long, 50mm OD black plastic pipe 2
metres long, animal mesh wire and clear plastic or you could use shade cloth. |

| I have now installed a wire cage around the tubs
to support the tomato plants and hopefully their huge crop. (the above photos were taken
on the 27/1/2000) The cages should have be installed when, we were first setting up our mini hot house. The way things are going, the mini hot house should have been a much larger, we will have to see what happens. |

![]() Why not try growing lettuce this way?. In a polystyrene fruit box filled with 50mm of liquid fertiliser, made out of fish emulsion 10mls to one litre of water. Just sit the pots (100mm dia) in the liquid fertilizer. I have used absorber stone for a growing medium. You will have to change the water at least once a week, it would probably depend on the climate conditions in your area?. Alternate the liquid fertilizer from fish emulsion to say worm casting liquid fertilizer. |
| Photo taken on the 3/2/2000; they now have flowers. Now is the time to start giving these guys a good feed once a week either with fish emulsion, or worm casting liquid fertilizer. But if you are using fish emulsion and you have a pump for circulating the water it could clog up with the oil from the fish emulsion. | Remember not too strong as you could burn
the roots. Also you will need to keep an eye out for tell signs for grubs, just pick them off and feed them to the chooks. More on the Hydro Toms up dated 20th of Feb |
